Join Us: The Annual Statewide Meeting is Coming Up!

The California Work & Family Coalition is holding its Annual Statewide Meeting on Friday, November 8th 10am - 3pm in downtown Oakland. The Statewide Meeting is where Coalition members and allies join together to review our work in the prior year and set our direction for the year ahead. It’s a great opportunity for both long-term and new members to connect, learn about the Coalition, and have an impact on the work moving forward.

This year, we are excited to be finalizing a long-term policy platform and gearing up for the implementation of SB 951! Starting January 1st, 2025 Paid Family Leave will be more affordable for California workers due to the hard work of Coalition members and allies. Join us to celebrate and plan for successful implementation.

If you are interested in attending the Annual Statewide Meeting for the first time and would like more information, please contact us at info@workfamilyca.org.

New August Updates for California Work & Family Coalition Priority Bills

Thank you to our members and partners who have worked and advocated with us this year. Here is an update on our 2024 Legislative Priorities:

  • SB 1090 (Durazo): Early Application for PFL and DI Benefits: Passed the State Assembly with 77 aye votes!

  • AB 2499 (Schiavo): Strengthening Safe Leave: Has passed the Legislature and is on its way to the Governor’s Desk!

  • AB 2901 (Aguiar-Curry): Pregnancy Leave for Educators and SB 1434 (Durazo): A Strong Unemployment Insurance Program for a Resilient Economy will not be moving forward this year. We look forward to continuing to work on these issues in the future.

  • AB 518 (Wicks): Paid Family Leave for Chosen Family: This bill will unfortunately not move forward this year. Ensuring equity in Paid Family Leave for all families remains a top priority for the California Work & Family Coalition. We will be working on next steps leading up to and at the Statewide Meeting.
