Welcome Human Impact Partners and Black ECE to the California Work & Family Coalition

We’re excited to welcome Human Impact Partners and Black Californians United for Early Care and Education (Black ECE) to the Coalition! 

Human Impact Partners (HIP) provides training and technical assistance to public health officials and supports advocacy and organizing with policy driven research. We have collaborated around caregiving and care issues in the recent past. Check out their website here

Black ECE is a new formation of organizations, advocates, ECE professionals, and care providers united behind a 10-point policy plan that calls for increased options, resources, and inclusion in decision making at the highest level for Black families, children, and providers. Save the Date: Upcoming Webinar on California Labor & Paid Leave Rights for Young Workers

Join the UCLA Labor Center and the California Work & Family Coalition for our next webinar, Know Your Rights: CA Labor & Paid Leave Rights for Young Workers, on Wednesday, May 15th at 4:00 PM. 

We are thrilled to partner with the UCLA Labor Center and host a training that centers Young Workers. Overall, this training will cover information about Paid Sick Days, Paid Family Leave, and information about workplace rights. 


LA County Passes Fair Workweek for Retail Workers

On Tuesday, April 9th, the LA County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0 to adopt a Fair Workweek ordinance for retail workers in unincorporated LA County. The California Work & Family Coalition is proud to be a part of the LA Fair Workweek Coalition because predictable scheduling is important for all workers, but especially for working parents and family caregivers!

Learning about the State Budget Landscape at the Policy Insights Conference

Members of the California Work & Family Coalition and our Education and Training Manager, Jasmine Amian attended California Budget & Policy Center’s Policy Insights Conference in Sacramento on Tuesday, April 16th.

One highlight was attending the panel, Dream Big: Increasing State Revenues Through Corporate Tax Fairness, featuring Bianca Blomquist, from Small Business Majority and a CAWFC Steering Committee member.

A United Coalition Highlights the Dangers of the Taxpayer Deception Act

On April 17th, Sarah Diaz, of The California WIC Association, and Sam Wilkinson of GRACE, stood alongside nurses, teachers, local leaders, unions, and other organizations at the Taxpayer Deception Act Rally in Sacramento. The Taxpayer Deception Act would have devastating consequences for all Californians and puts schools, emergency and disaster response and important services at risk.
