Every day millions of California workers are forced to make untenable choices: lose pay and risk job loss to care for themselves or a sick family member. Over 4.5 million California workers – nearly 40% of the private workforce – can not take a single day off when they or someone in their family is ill. For too many families, losing a day’s pay - or even losing a job - is as easy as catching a cold. And when workers are forced to work sick, their germs become our germs. Workers without paid sick days handle our food at restaurants, care for our kids at daycare centers, and nurse the sick and elderly.
73% of Californians agree: all California workers should have the right to earn paid sick days.
